"I didn't like corporate politics, outsourcing of jobs, union regulations, or lack of support."

"Be real. Understand what the everyday person does, and that not everything is going to go the proper way."

"I love the possibility of career advancement. Also, we are on the edge of what's coming out. In the near future, everything will be based off of wireless communications and/or data."

"You have to be a hard-working individual who realizes that, as a sales consultant, you are working retail hours. These hours can be incredibly demanding. You need to always want to do better and surpass your quota to make good money. It's an awesome job to have!"

"Unless you're willing to move, it's very hard to get a promotion. Apart from that, I love my job!"

"With all of the changes management has made towards helping the customer by any means possible (and with Our Promise to the customer), I wouldn't change much."

"I loved the opportunity to impact literally millions of customers' daily lives, and the security of working for a Fortune 10 company."

"The company is full of smart and talented people who are underutilized. You have opportunities to work on important projects, but all the bureaucracy makes everything move slowly. Innovation and entrepreneurial thinking get a lot of lip service, but in the end, the company is extremely resistant to change or new ways of thinking."

"Communication is terrible. We never know what other departments are doing, even when it directly impacts our business."

"I would empower employees. The traditional top-down hierarchy prevents innovation."

"Display a hunter mentality. Be vigilant and assertive and you will get the job."

"Because of unionized structure, management is disconnected from employees. The chances of growth are next to nothing."

"Keep doing what you're doing, but communicate more with your employees."

"The relaxed dress code is nice. The pay is nice, too, but not nice enough for what we have to deal with."

"DON'T DO IT! This is a job that will make you hate life. Go somewhere else if you can!"

"Actions speak louder than words, and although AT&T claims to care about the customer, they really don't. This is made clear by the fact that they don't provide working tools, open call flow, or more human-friendly scripts to abide by on the phone. Quality is a joke, measurements are constantly changing, and figuring out what you've done wrong this time is always a guessing game."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Stop making the people taking the calls sound like robots following a script. I would also provide working and functional tools to the employees so that they may actually help the customer (like the company SAYS that it does, but actually doesn't)."

"The fact that it was a term employment and wished it could have been longer."

"I work two jobs, so cut me some slack. Let me make decisions about calls."

"I liked the flexibility of working outside. There were a variety of work locations, and pay and benefits were both good."

"Rethink your decision to work with AT&T, rather than with another employer. If you take the job, don't expect any time with your family - family comes second at AT&T."

"The company expects that you will put the needs of the business ahead of your own family's needs. I was sometimes sent out of state for a month at a time."

"Show a little more empathy for your employees. Realize that they do have families outside of the workplace."

"I like the environment and how, for the most part, it is laid back."

"Be sure to ask about advancement opportunities. Managers make less than what I make after five years as a full-time sales representative."

"I don't like having to work long hours to hit unreasonable goals. Management is always cutting commissions, making us work harder and harder each year for the same amount of money."

"I would pay more attention to the payscale for agents of the company."

"I did not enjoy favoritism, the lack of room for advancement, racism, and the fact that commission structure was poor after 5 years."

"Promote those who earn it and abide by EEOC policies and protocol."

"Don't employ the person in front of you, go for anyone else - shown by last 3 appointments."

"Line manager is too soft and staff take advantage, meaning workload is not shared in a balanced way."
