"Be on top of your game, study if you have too. Interviews can be tough, especially in my department."

"Policy, procedure, Big company feel; things sometimes move slowly and you sometimes don't know where to go to get corporate answers."

"I don't know what I would do different, things seem to be running well."

"If the timing is right, I can do what I like... though the right time is few and far between..."

"They may tell you that you can do whatever you want, and that you'll be able to shape your own career here... but I hope you talk loud, because that's all they listen to, even if the ideas aren't remotely viable."

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"Red tape. Red tape, freaking everywhere. There's a system and a formula for everything that we do, and no one can ever deviate from that plan. They love their red tape, and they're scared of change."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"No more stabbing backs on your way to the top. No more of someone saying jump and forcing everyone to ask how high. People would actually be able to develop their careers as they see fit, instead of forcing them to stick in their box because they're good at it right now, so they'll always be good at it. And stop shoving features in for the sake of having features. It should be quality over quantity, but they add more work while laying off other workers... so we all have to work longer hours, and they get away with it because, well, we're salaried."

"Variety of opportunities within the company and exposure to many industries."

"Be prepared for how you will navigate such a large company with little to no support."

"Too focused on big business and corporate America. Difficult to navigate."

"Make work life balance and career development more of a priority."

"Employees have to fight each other for good reviews under the current stacked ranking system."

"Hire more people to support the infrastructure. Provide better benefits. Support a healthy work/life balance."

"it is pretty easy and straightforward, just get a high salary up front, because you will be stuck at it."

"The management are greedy and fairly clueless, just worry about profits."

"Old School. Investor focused instead of employee focused. Annoying Pyramid hierarchy."

"Give more benefits to developers and provide more outlets to join the team together."

"Although it's a little stuffy and staid, many of my coworkers are great people and help keep things at least a little interesting."

"Know your stuff, dress well, and realize that you're not getting a raise for 3 years."

"Not all projects here are created equal. This is a contracting sort of job, and while some projects are amazing to work for, some are rather difficult."

"The pay is too little to keep the good developers around here. Higher pay would go very far."
