"I am a contractor with minimal benefits. IBM is very slow in their hiring process. While I work at a manufacturing client, I love manufacturing and am surprised by how much I miss direct involvement in the manufacturing process."

"I am a follower of W. Edwards Deming and statistical management techniques. I believe every manager should be."

"It took a lot of time to confirm my internship. They could have saved me a lot of trouble if the HR dealt well with the recruitment process."

"They should concentrate on the HR department, especially in Bangalore,India."

"Some of the coolest projects around come from here. We have some of the best datasets, people, and networks on the planet."

"Plenty of paths, but you have to steer yourself constantly, and often management is too busy just keeping up themselves to really help."

"The workload precludes working on projects very much. They are reluctant to have any slack on staffing levels and its hard to get that project time to be effective."

"More rapid tools, more time to learn using the amazing amount of resources they have."

"The company used you like a commodity. When times were tough for them, employees were the most expendable."

"Too much to do with too few people. Micromanaging above my level. Inability to make any recommendations without complete 2nd guessing or no investment."

"Recognize all areas of the company, not just those making the money. Recognize where money has to be spent in order to keep employees and maintain infrastructure."

"Even more content in orientation for clarification up front to help in decision making and participation."

"Changing, dynamic, great people, work from home, fantastic cross-team support, excellent processes and procedures."

"Whatever you're interviewing for now, you won't be doing it in two years. Interview for the division / culture, not the specific job / tasks."

"When you'd find a job you loved, you'd end up getting booted out of it because of restructuring or outsourcing, and when that happened, you'd have to fight to get something, anything, even if you didn't particularly like it, just to keep working."

"Overall, company was solidly pointed in the right direction and well managed. On an individual level, recognizing people's efforts and giving guidance before the fact rather than correction after the fact would go a long way."

"I could work from home. I was trusted to work at my own pace and not under supervision."

"They are a good company with good benefits but be aware they do layoffs every year and you could be next!"

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"Company too big, cared about only upper management. They got paid well, the little people that did the most work were not paid very well."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I don't know if I would do it differently because IBM is such a large company. If I did make any change it would be to make the people feel more secure in their jobs. They did a layoffs every year and you didn't feel secure in your job. Also, more of a number, not a real person!"
