The teams we have are made up of good, motivated people, but there is currently no investment in team member's skills other than to meet minimum contractual requirements. I my current role, I usually have enough control over what tasks I do when. However, there are times when the workload can mushroom into large amounts of overtime or long hours crammed into narrow windows. While there is more than enough work to be done, IBM manages costs by cutting contractor hours at the end of the quarter, whether or not deliverables will be met. And they do so while instructing the staff not to mention the restrictions to the client."
