"I've worked for IBM since 2011. I went from an intern to a full time employee. I enjoyed the atmosphere and benefits of working here."
"At IBM it depends on the division you are in. A shrinking division means there is no opportunity to move as hiring freezes make managers reluctant to 'release' you to another job in IBM. Some office locations are old converted manufacturing building and barely maintained. Good flex work scheduling/life balance. OK starting salary, but raises and bonuses are menial (below inflation). Extremely stingy on work stations (4 year cycle) and bring your own monitor/books/learning/tools."
"I recommend working at IBM."
"I worked on various software projects and served as L3 support at IBM for 2 years. All my co-workers are independent and refused to provide help (possibly due to the relative ranking system). Employees under the same band rating are consistently evaluated and due to the large number of employees at IBM, it becomes hard to get promoted and move forward for a career in software engineering. Lack of help also promotes a very stressful working schedule."
"I have only been with IBM for 8 months. I am not impressed with what they do, the tools they supply, and the training they provide. They are very behind when it comes to emerging technology."
"I have been with IBM since 2011. While it may be the workplace for some it is not fitting towards the environment that I wish to be in. Their learning resources are very limited due to the age gap of employees. Well seasoned employees retire before completing the training of new employees which leads to inadequate skill levels. The technology is very old and out dated, and as a developer you do not feel like you are contributing since the components are so separate from each other."
"I have worked for IBM for nearly 3 years and my review is specific to the department I work in. My direct chain of management are fantastic, however because of the structure of our department I interact with potentially the worst executive in my experience. Because of that executives direction financial targets are put far before people, corners are constantly cut, everything is a last minute emergency, and fear drives outputs."
"This job was my first co-op/intern and the experience was great. The people, job, managers, pay, etc, were beyond my expectations."
"IBM is an excellent place to work. It provides flexibility and the freedom to work. It has been a challenge!"
"It was a great opportunity for me to learn and flourish through my career."
"The group I was in had problems with management, project management, and delivery of engagements. It was very frustrating."
"Nice people. Happy to work for them."
"Not the same IBM... starting to look like HP."
"In the years I worked at IBM, the company continued its death spiral. The working environment is so bad IBM has never made a Best Places to Work list. It never will. No loyalty from management down and none expected from employees up. Pay OK, benefits declining, retirement not hopeful."
"IBM today is not the IBM of 2003, certainly not the IBM of a generation ago. Have you ever seen IBM on a Best Places To Work list No, and there's a reason. Gone is respect for the individual. No longer is experience valued. There is no loyalty up from employees or down from management. Cutting labor costs gained IBM some temporary advantage, but that's now disappeared. Work there for a few years, build your resume, then move on."
