"UPS is a different company now. Beware of the union and the contract. Know it well."

"I didn't like the inflexibility to perform my job, given certain constraints due to union contracts."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Listen to your front line supervisors. Sometimes what works in one area of the company does not work in another."

"The technology is very cutting edge. It looks great on your resume. I am gaining valuable skills for the future. Some benefits are still good."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Unless you're interested in filling an EOE quota, turn around and walk briskly in the other direction, as your career growth will be stunted, that is, unless you like dead ends."
What don't you like about working at UPS?
"My boss, my boss's boss, and my boss's boss's boss all e-mail me about the same thing and what tedious, stupid thing we're doing wrong. I never get anything from the aforementioned people about what I'm doing RIGHT. The benefits are being systematically reduced or eliminated. Management is being de-skilled."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Our CEO is a former CFO. We are more worried about the bottom line and stockholders than the customers. Management is too concerned about yesterday's results rather than tomorrow's plan. When we do focus on tomorrow's plan, we are too worried about numbers that don't really matter. We have too many conference calls with unprofessional language and demeaning, insulting vibes. Rarely is it recognized when you actually do something well."

"It was very challenging work. The people were great and the location was good."

"Be willing to work long hours. Dress well and have excellent communication skills. Know your skills well and be ready for a tough teching."

"The hours were sometimes ridiculous due to the reasons they were worked. The pay was low."

"Listen to your employees more, understand your role better, and maybe take some basic computer classes."

"The people there are great to work with. It's corporate that I don't care for."

"Come do the work that we do, then maybe you will have a better idea of how and why we do things the way we do."

"I enjoy the interaction with the employees as well as the customers. I love working with people and making a difference. I am not afraid of the deadlines to get things done and am very organized."

"The company is not conducive to having children with hours I work. I also used to feel that the people were important to the company but am not getting that impression anymore."

"I think there can be a unity between management and employees. Employees want to feel important and that their opinion is important. You can still get results with proper communication and listening."
