"I disliked the fact that there was no centralized underwriting for the loans that I originated, meaning, after submitting a deal, an underwriter in Columbus, Ohio, would underwrite the file and, no offense, but they typically don't understand the market in Kenosha, Wisconsin."

"Put realistic goals for people to attain, especially in this market today. Do not set your staff up for failure. I am all for working hard to achieve success, but let's be realistic."

"It may be a good short-term job, but don't count on your pay or benefits to remain stable--regardless of your performance. Realize that you are just a tool being used by the bank, so treat them the same and get what you can, while you can."

"Upper management took a good thing and messed it up. They tried to copy the model of other banks, instead of sticking to what was working for them."
