"It is very much like the military - very conservative, short hair, look sharp, not dressy. Give short, precise answers and never blow smoke."

"There was a great deal of conflict between home life and work, with very long hours--the job always came first."

"Before the company went public, UPS was a great place to work, one where you felt proud to tell people about. Now the place is all about CYA and screwing with the people who helped make the place what it is today."

"Try trusting your people, and don't micromanage."

"The rigid corporate structure at UPS leaves very little opportunity for upward mobility for unionized operations employees, even after completion of a college degree through company tuition-reimbursement programs."

"Inform employees much better as to any company opportunities for advancement, and consider the best candidate from within."
