Don't base everything on metrics, as the truth is not in the metrics, but in what you might hear when you pick up the phone or stop by the desk. Get to know your employees. Do not look at a large team with common responsibilities as one, but rather many individuals, all with great strengths and weaknesses, that potentially you could take advantage of for everyone's benefit."
