"Be aware of the worker' efficiencies and effort."

"The one good thing I enjoyed while working at Verizon was its very generous continuing education program. The company paid up front the full cost of any accredited program an employee chose to attend, as long as it was a business or IT related program. There were no limits to how much the company paid for a program. Of course this program was too good to be true and the program dramatically changed."

"Know exactly what you're getting into. It is a cut-throat environment."
What don't you like about working at Verizon Communications?
"Everything is about the bottom line. There have been layoffs/RIFs (Reduction in Force) since 2000. Morale is awful. There is a general feeling that management doesn't care about its employees and views them as bodies and numbers."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Invest in your employees. View them as persons. Over the years Verizon has lost a number of technical talent and knowledge through indiscriminate RIFs and defections."

"Not much. Once I got in and learned about their management, I couldn't wait to leave."

"I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone I know or who happens to read this. People have been leaving like flies. My current company has hired four people from Verizon FNS."

"I dislike the drive into Arlington."

"I was promised a promotion with equal compensation and the VP at the time reneged on his promise and told me that they had to hire more minorities. That didn't sit well with a white man."
