"Was working at Verizon via a consulting company. Their managers on-site did not research the project that we were working on even though they start months before the first data scientist was hired. Even once we started the managers did clearly understand what needed to be done. The product was for use by a Verizon group at another site. After a few months there I volunteered to visit the group the product was for to get there requirements and to fully understand what needed to be done"

"I have worked for Verizon in somcapacity since 2008. I have to say that my review of the company changed drastically when I began working in the CSSC. While compensation and benefits were well above average, the environment is very poor. Compartmentilization of poor management make the job very difficult to do. Additionally moving up in the company from this role is nearly impossible."

"I enjoyed working with my team and supervisors. If I had a question about safety, or if there was something I came across that I was unfamiliar with, I could always look to my team for support, and I reciprocated whenever possible."

"Be honest, professional, and direct when answering questions. And a sense of humor always goes a long way. It did for me."

What don't you like about working at Verizon Communications?

"Frankly, I enjoyed driving to work knowing that I was going to run into something new. I got to work on many different homes and businesses that all presented a different set of challenges."

"Continue to trust technicians to do their jobs, and offer support whenever possible."

"There were limited growth opportunities, due to the flat corporate structure that is currently in place."

"I believe that creating more career growth opportunities by creating more management levels will help to retain workers."

"We have actually been instructed how and what our feedback on items should be done, as opposed to accepting open feedback."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"With the new CEO, Verizon has a fetish for college degrees. A job that just two years ago you could get without a degree for entry level work requiring no education now requires a college degree, and for the same level of pay or less, depending on the role.I came in before this change and have been told I will have no upward or lateral mobility due to the lack of a degree."

What don't you like about working at Verizon Communications?

"We do not have work freedom. We are micromanaged down to the point of having to state someone's name X number of times during a call."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I feel that the company has effectively 'fetishized' the wireless side of the company to the point of intentional neglecting of the wireline side. This is also evident with the poor treatment the union workers are getting in regards to benefits.Also, I have 12 bosses. Office space has nothing on my job."

"I truly enjoy and like the people that I work with."

"I don't like the constant changing of upper management with people from outside the company."

"I feel that workplace attitudes would greatly increase if present workers are promoted from within."

"There are no growth and opportunities for employees. They need to provide funding for external training."
