"Too much of clique-ish work environment too many people using cell phones on personal matters including Facebook."
"I worked at JCI for over the past 6 years and found that they became less efficient in project delivery, manpower allocation, employee training, and subcontractor selection. I was forced to use substandard low voltage installation subcontractors, beginner level technicians and engineers, and had to go outside the company to find partially qualified staff to deliver my assigned projects. I was successful in delivering several large projects with significant profit increases, 40% change orders."
"I've worked for JCI since 2009, being hired out of college. JCI Electronics has a poor background in software development and is behind in the process with their competitors. The management comes from a mechanical/electrical background, making developing software products or improving the software design processes very difficult."
"I'm part of a new field JCI is developing on. The transition has been a little difficult and the experience required to exceed the expectations of the client has been reached recently."

What don't you like about working at Johnson Controls?
"I dislike the weak, highly subjective HR processes that allow cronyism and internal politics to flourish and influence employee-related decisions. There is high pressure to conform to the hierarchical structure and old boys network. There's an unprofessional environment where you need to focus more on making sure you are in the good books of the senior management, rather than focus on performing well in your job. Structured career development or career paths are non-existent."

What don't you like about working at Johnson Controls?
"The type of work is becoming monotonous. We could use some more help. The light amount of staffing has resulted in the highest amount of stress that I have experienced in the eighteen years that I have been here."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"The new management team needs to listen to us more. We are the employees who have been working here the longest - some for 15 to 20 years, and we know what the customer's wants and needs are. They ask us to answer surveys assuring that they are anonymous and confidential but then advise us not to forward the memo with the link to the survey to our co-workers because the email memo with this link is unique to each of our email accounts. So much for the survey being anonymous, candid and confidential! This has resulted in an air of apprehension and mistrust of our management. So, many of the workers are playing it safe by either not completing the survey or not being truthful, for fear - real or imagined, of reprisals against them, should management identify them and not like their complaints or criticisms. I like to think that our management is sincere in their attempt to improve, but terminations do appear to be on the rise lately. (One can do the math, as they say.)"
