"I like the new technology."

"Stay long, and learn."

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"I dislike the 80/20 rule. I was in the 20%."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Look closely at who is doing the work, and pay them for it."

"I enjoyed working with my employees and peer managers, they were a very talented group of individuals. Departments exhibited a lot of teamwork and helped the department reach all of its goals."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Still a lot of innovative work but work environment has cheapened the respect for the individual."

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"The first 25 years were the best; the last 9 were less than great! The employee to mgr. ratios became too large, made it difficult to spend enough time with each employee. Started out at around 10 to 1, then evolved into a 50 to 1 ratio. Outsourcing became too important to the bottom line."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Need a better system to allow time to work with employees and regain their confidence that managers know what they need to develop and grow."

"Promotion, raise and employee rating process."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Put more emphasis on bringing your top talent up the ranks and try to retain your young people. Move employees into better positions if they deserve them, get rid of 30+ year sr management and replace with younger motivated top talent."

"Watch your back. I did my 30 years there and then they put the target on my back along with several others who had their 30 years in, they did everything they could to get us out the door."

"It's a business with NO respect for the individual. All about the money for the executives."

"The image of the company was top notch when Tom Watson was alive, since then it's in the toilet."

"Old technology, not very portable, and management was a different class than those doing the actual work. Further, the performance review system is horribly flawed. Don't expect a fair shake."

"IBM is one of the greatest companies, and be prepared to add more to its success and it has wide open door for improvement and advancement."

"The great team feeling inside IBM makes it hard to leave site or move to other positions available outside this great place."

"The 80 year old site may require lot of work so they may need a lot of additional funding to request."

"There were so many new things to learn on the newest equipment. The pay was really good."

What don't you like about working at IBM?

"I worked as a System Administrator in the Benchmark Center where they setup up testing platforms for potential customers to try out before they buy multimillion dollar systems. VERY stressful."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management kept changing. I had a new manager every couple of months."
