"I worked at ADT for almost a year as a contract auditor. I got the job as a contractor, so I knew the position was no where near permanent. But my manager recognized my skill and ability to do the job I was given, so she did her best to keep me on the team as long as she could. The workplace was very friendly and the managers were very understanding and willing to work with their employees."

"Its a pretty straightforward situation here at ADT if you are in sales. Expense reimbursement is nearly non-existent, while expenses run very high, particularly in regards to your personal vehicle. Compensation is poor. Product is the highest priced in the market. Competition is everywhere. ADT drops a lot of bucks on marketing and its a well known name, but the company packs markets with too many reps and brokers. I've looked at the reports and the average rep makes about 30K/year."

"Very large company, separated from Tyco a year ago, many policy changes that are not beneficial/hurt employees (Runzheimer). More employee turnover than there should be. Training needs to be better.Micromanaged by managers.Office staff is great however, and very helpful."

"ease up and let the employees assist the customer no matter how long it may take to trouble shoot the system"

"Meeting new people everyday. Working closely with a team of people. Working for a international well known company. Selling products that make a difference in people's lives."

"Make sure you are good with time management, and if you have other career goals, make it known and inquire quickly about opportunities within the company."

"Not much room for advancement in the sales rep arena. I think people would stay longer if the pay was not completely commission based."

"I would come up with more inovative activities to build sales."

"It is the oldest Security Alarm company in the world."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Think twice before taking position, because I and others were sold on the premise that 70% of leads would be given to the sales rep, which the exact opposite is true. Also if you have a fuel efficent car, then apply, but if not then you might want think again since I alone placed over 30k miles on my car in less than a year."

What don't you like about working at ADT Security?

"Lack of coaching from management and ability to move forward. High turnover of sales reps and no base salary."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Better coaching, less dictating. Better manage to assist sales reps in getting jobs sold installed sooner which hinders and can result in job/sale loss."

"This company was trying to figure out the best way to compensate salesmen in a changing economy. It didn't work for me."
