"At IBM it depends on the division you are in. A shrinking division means there is no opportunity to move as hiring freezes make managers reluctant to 'release' you to another job in IBM. Some office locations are old converted manufacturing building and barely maintained. Good flex work scheduling/life balance. OK starting salary, but raises and bonuses are menial (below inflation). Extremely stingy on work stations (4 year cycle) and bring your own monitor/books/learning/tools."

"If it was a young person and they had a choice - I would go with a small start up IT company with more positive energy. If they want the job - work here for a few years to build some skills and then move on."

"After another resource action earlier this year - and now the transition to retirement plan in place - they are expecting us to pick up all the extra work - no extra pay or recognition."

"Make the employees feel like they are valued rather than making them feel grateful to have a job and wonder when the next resource action will come."

"Variety of opportunities within the company and exposure to many industries."
