"I have worked for Walmart for 5+ years starting from a courtesy associate to a cashier and finally as a sales associate. The management was friendly and the staff was excellent. My time there has helped me with my social interactions and customer assistance, whether it is ringing them up through checkout or helping find a certain item."

What do you like about working at Walmart?

"The pay is good and there seems to be good job security. I like a lot of the traditions of the company that are retained from Sam Walton."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"The company is an every-day-low-cost retailer. They practice what they preach in terms of keeping costs down to pass along as lower prices. Make sure you are OK with sacrificing some of the comforts in the job in order to keep costs down."

What don't you like about working at Walmart?

"The company encourages you to change jobs every 18-24 months, but it ends up that you rarely feel comfortable in your job. And, when you do switch jobs in that time frame, you are not given adequate training and transition time. You are kind of thrown in -- sink or swim."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think the every-day-low-cost philosophy at Walmart sometimes comes at the expense of overworking its people and not providing adequate training. I would focusing on hiring more people and training them better."

Assistant Store Manager

"Long hours, decent pay"

What do you like about working at Walmart?

"Each store was a family of its own and everyone cared about everyone else. Hands down, I worked with some truly incredible people."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Each question needs a beginning, a middle and an end."

What don't you like about working at Walmart?

"Very little home-work balance. There was simply too much work to be done during the days I worked, so it was necessary to work over and come in on days off in order to accomplish everything that was expected to be done."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Set more realistic goals for middle management. With payroll constraints as they are, it is impossible to do everything 3 twelve hour days a week."
