"Close to home, regular paychecks, got object-oriented development experience, some of the people were cool."

"Raytheon is a great place to work if (a) you're just starting out and want to get a masters degree, or (b) you prefer to stay with one company for your whole career. It's usually a good place for a good paycheck and job stability."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"In my department we were fixing 20 year old code. We were constrained to old equipment, old languages, old development methodologies. I felt like I was training to be a veterinarian for dinosaurs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would make project schedules more doable, work hours more flexible"

"People are pleasant to work with. It's a friendly environment."

"Be yourself and don't over-sell your capabilities. Ask lots of questions related to the company."

"The inter-office politics get to be too much to handle sometimes."

"I would require the managers to work with their employees as opposed to directing the peons from a throne."

"The compensation, location, benefits are all nice. The people are generally friendly, albeit low morale."

"It's not so much the company I dislike, but more so the career path (engineering/programming)."

"I don't think I have enough experience to really say what I would do differently."

"Show the amount of projects that you have. Know how to talk about the details."

"Projects are not organized enough. Manangers are only worried about reporting to their own manager, instead of making the project more efficient."

"Focus more on using more innovative processes and techniques. Old school methods do work effective enough."

"The technology is cutting edge for flight vehicles. An employee has a vast set of opportunities and jobs that can be pursued."

"Ask questions about job mobility, opportunities, and the location. Ask to speak with less senior engineers to understand climate."

"The company is very large and, at times, very inefficient. Passionate people may find the culture slow."

"Change the development model and provide agile, high-risk/high-reward opportunities for passionate people."

"Be prepared to work hard and not mention anything that might be improved or made better. Also be prepared to time travel back about 40 years cutlture- wise."

"There is a strong lack of development opportunities & a lot of lip service to equality while turning a blind eye to actual problems."

"I'd pay equal attention to ALL staff and eliminate the caste system of emplyee management."

"Focus on results. You're more likely to get the job if you can demonstrate that you've got the skills necessary."

"It's very risk adverse, so I spend a lot of time doing boring, predictable work with boring, predictable results."

"Try to figure out more fully what type of work people want to do and help them find ways to do it."

"The work is usually interesting. There are opportunities to move to new projects in new domains."

"Depending on what you work on, the amount of process can be overbearing. There's too much focus on short-term goals. There's very little focus on employee development and keeping employee skillsets current."

"I would put much more emphasis on long term development of company skills and technologies."

"They have lots of money to procure equipment. They haven't fire my coworkers yet."

"Go to a smaller company where the pace is quicker, the support more responsive and you can get better recognition."

"it is too big. You get lost in the machine. There is no sense of ownership over any apps/technology/servers. CSC constantly messes up projects given to them to maintain."

"Improve the email system, lotus notes sucks. Decentralize the datacenter."

"Wide variety of work. Chalangeing and rewarding. Management looks out for their workers."

"I prefere the west coast, however, I may be biassed."

"I had to commute to El Segundo, near LAX. When you add in the commute, it made for a long day of work."

"Keep the respect up for the employees, we really appreciate it."

"Good team work and sence of belonging on the team, not as good as the legacy Hughes Aircraft Company which was the foundation of the battlefield radar business."

"Weather out the poor economy. Jobs will return. There are some jobs, but very selective and in a downsizing mode now."

"Not enough empowerment of the workers to proceed in the optimal path for success."

"Listen to the technical experts more and less the finacial planners. Performance only can happen with technical ability, not frugal optomistic schedules."

"The different types of installations on many models of aircraft."

"The Avionics department the last time I went by is no longer there."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"Would have to take are vacation time in order to get a full paycheck when times were slow."

"They needed to pull in more custom jobs for the Avionics department and better test equipment."

"I like the flexible hours that Raytheon allows me to work."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"My primary goal is to relocate back to Nebraska. The only thing I don't like about this job is that it is located in McKinney, TX."

"this was a great place to work everything was high pressure for completion"

"yes be sure of your job skill level don't back down on what you know"

"I don't like when a project is cut short without testing"

"I think management panic on some project do to pressure"

"I was let go from Raytheon in March of this year. I am unemployed."

"Raytheon is a huge company, there is plenty of opportunity to learn and be led."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"Tucson is a city for a more established individual (married couples,retirees). I missed the city features and family."
