"Nice company to work with."

"Company is divided in two groups which are management and technical people. Once program is done, the management would not hesitate to lay off any technical people. The management believes that technical people are easy to be replaced. The review processes are very negative. The management always wants to find fault in any person. The technology is not advanced in the company."

"I've worked for Raytheon for ten years. Because the company makes most of its money on missiles, I think there's a belief at the higher levels that the same processes that make them successful at missile production will make them successful at software development. I have not found this to be the case.Career advancement at Raytheon Garland is somewhat slow due to the large number of future pensioners occupying the higher labor grades."

"I had wanted to be a lifer with Raytheon, but I found that while they talked a good game about ethics, their application was less than satisfactory. They protect management regardless of management's crimes.Despite receiving years of excellent performance reviews and acceptable compensation, I was regularly subject to double standards and punished for bringing problems to management.I'd like to think that my experience does not represent Raytheon -- but I fear it does."

"Close to home, regular paychecks, got object-oriented development experience, some of the people were cool."

"Raytheon is a great place to work if (a) you're just starting out and want to get a masters degree, or (b) you prefer to stay with one company for your whole career. It's usually a good place for a good paycheck and job stability."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"In my department we were fixing 20 year old code. We were constrained to old equipment, old languages, old development methodologies. I felt like I was training to be a veterinarian for dinosaurs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would make project schedules more doable, work hours more flexible"

"The work is usually interesting. There are opportunities to move to new projects in new domains."

What don't you like about working at Raytheon?

"Depending on what you work on, the amount of process can be overbearing. There's too much focus on short-term goals. There's very little focus on employee development and keeping employee skillsets current."

"I would put much more emphasis on long term development of company skills and technologies."

"Be honest. If you don't know, just tell them you don't know. Otherwise, they will look really bad on you."

"Don't have room to grow. Technologies are not up to date."
