"Ample training and great products to sell. A good place to start your career."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"This company will fit your needs in the short-term. Long-term, chances are you will be moving on to a different company in about 5-7 years. All but one of my colleagues are gone."

What don't you like about working at Johnson Controls?

"For sales, pay is low. I tripled my pay working for a competitor. Also, their business model is flawed. Local offices are not allowed to adjust their strategy for the local customer's needs. Customer satisfaction is extremely low."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Decentralize sales strategies and allow the sales managers to provide the right product and services that meet the local customer's needs."

"AT first I thought is was a solid job, good people in the plants."

"Make sure they are not laying off on the next 3 to 12 months. You will be the first to go."

"I was worried about being layed off 30 days after I was hired. Made it through 3 rounds, When they hit logistics, I was the last in first out. They took all my ideas and were awared for those ideas this summer."

"Look at your middle management team, they arn't doing anything to make them company run well."

"I liked the team of people that I worked with and the product that I helped design. But the entire group no longer works there because it was more economical to dissolve our group and move our product to another group that had no product knowledge and could not possibly make money for the company in an immediate time frame."

"Look hard elsewhere, unless you don't mind being temporary and disposable."

What don't you like about working at Johnson Controls?

"The most important thing to JCI has always been the bottom line. They do not put any value in the employees that help to make the products that they sell. They never try to use other methods to make money or save money other than randomly selecting people to be let go regardless of seniority or work ethic. Often they will let people go that would be considered an asset and allow people to work that waste company time and money."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Instead of laying people off all the time, maybe you can try the following methods: pay freezes, offering voluntary lay offs for those who can afford it, cutting back on travel and other expenses, forcing people to retire who are qualified and capable."
