"I worked at IR for more than 20 years. The plant manager was not employee friendly. The HR department was never very helpful until recently, the would give you a phone number if you had any questions. It didn't seem like corporate ever wanted to work with the union. It seemed to not want a good relationship with there workers. I would not recommend working for this company."

"I worked for Ingersoll-Rand's Security Technologies group from 2008 into 2013. I found them to be a strong organization but I wish that they would have been stronger in the product planning. For the most part the people are enthusiastic and proud of their accomplishments and proud to design products for a strong brand."

"I have worked for Trane/American Standard/Ingersoll Rand for 34 years. While working there I completed 2 degrees. I was able to move forward through the company with my job duties. We supported 1200 computers in the state of Wisconsin for my company. Software, hardware, and working with our vendors. My most recent job was that of 14 years of this support. IR is a worldwide company, with over 60,00 employees and I really enjoyed working there with our team."

"Ingersoll Rand is a very large company and I can only speak about one of their many locations. It is very stressful in materials department. Corporate pressure is much greater than I have experienced elsewhere. Very high turnover in both employees and management. Negative atmosphere to work in. Good pay."

Equipment Services Project Manager

What do you like about working at Ingersoll-Rand?

"Large company with a lot of opportunities. Changing sectors or functions is like going to a new company, so you can still grow and learn. Provides flexibility with laptop, and mobile phone, enabling working remotely."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Get to know the right people in the company who can help you with your development/advancement. Many times that person may not be your direct manager. What don't you like about working at Ingersoll-Rand?

"Over allocated with work load, but told my management to manage it. Work nights and weekends to keep up with workload, to try to maintain same level of quality of work, and not let any one thing get dropped. Can't get management support, because they are either: a.) also bombarded with workload b.) busy with their own agendas, not paying attention to the business/department needs."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Too many initiatives. Some conflict with one another, and start to experience initiative fatigue. Stretch goals are not realistic/attainable."
