"Not being given a straight answer about which office I would be in in the next month (districts varied by up to 60 miles), Having mandatory charity meetings for the United Way in which the possibility of promotion was contingent upon donation."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"The ideas which the company operates under are very sound, but they should look at the way the regional offices implements these ideas. I know that everyone is competing against each other for promotions, however, some of the strongest reasons that I had for leaving the company were these: 1) I asked my area manager at my six month review where I was going to be working for the next three months and he told me in Woodland. I signed a new lease and within two weeks he moved me to Citris Heights (35 minutes away) 2) After a 13 hour day, being REQUIRED to go to a United Way meeting to encourage us to donate, and since we worked at the auto mall office, all the food and drinks were gone. 3) When said forms were handed out to donate, I did not. Two weeks later, my area manager took me out to lunch, asking me how I liked everything and how things were going. I said fine and he implied to me that donating to the United Way is part of the promotion process, as I would have to encourage others to donate. 4) When I caught mononucleosis, I was talked to about the number of days that I missed work, even though my assistant manager, my manager, my area manager, and HR had a copy of the doctor's note saying that I might need to miss work from time to time until I was healthy."
"Bust your butt to become a manager, learn some useful information along the way, get paid a little more and then they look for reasons to demote or fire you. Out with old and in with new! It's cost effective."
