"I would suggest that you are completely honest with your interviewer. I would also suggest that you maintain eye contact, as this is a sign of respect."

"I did not like the way that I was not given some understanding with trying to figure out my personal life while still working for Target."

"I would suggest that if an employee is working hard and always on time; they should be allowed some slack if they are going through personal drama, as this is a part of human life in general."

"I love nearly everything there is about Target. I think it's a wonderful place to work with plenty of colorful characters who are there day in and day out to help each other and grow as adults as well as workers."

"Be yourself and be proud to be given a chance to work for such a great company. Know that working at Target will not only be enlightening compared to some other retail jobs, but you will learn life lessons working there as well."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"The only thing I'm not fond of at Target is the lack of decent pay and the lack of decent hours per week."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't be afraid of giving the dedicated employees that want to be at work the amount of hours they deserve."

"Flexibility in scheduling, benefits, and the understanding that employees need to balance work and home life. Not saying you can call out every weekend to go partying, but if you need an extra day off here or there they won't sever your head if you ask for it."

"You must be customer-service oriented first and foremost. Ask a lot of questions, and do some research on the company beforehand."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"Opportunities to advance without education are limited. Only those who are team leads or higher can participate in education reimbursement. This is a bummer for me and I believe it would help create long-term employees out of some people."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I've worked through three STL's (store team lead, aka manager) and two ETL's (executive team leads). The older the manager, the more engaged they seem to be with making employees happy and comfortable. The younger, less-experienced ones need to lean on their elders a little bit and learn from them."

"I have the freedom to make decisions in performing my job and knowing that I have a friendly and knowledgeable team to back me up."

"Give the same amount of friendliness and work effort to each shift on the job as what you gave during and preparing for the interview."

"It's difficult to get ideas for improvement in the hands of people who have the power to make those changes happen."

"Apply the company's mission statement in every decision made, both day to day, and longterm."

"There were times the hours of work were minimized. But overall, it was a great experience."

"It seemed as though the number of new staff would highly affect the other employees' work schedule. So perhaps not hire too many staff at one time."

"Be accountable and own up to your mistakes. You need to be able to learn from them."

"At this time I was looking at schooling options, they did not offer flexible schedules for those pursuing masters degree."

"Be accountable and be able to articulate mistakes you've made in the past and how you learned/ prevented others from making the same mistake."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"I don't have a lot of opportunities to get to the Milwaukee area. I would have to pursue a career with our stores which is something I am not interested in."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Create more internal data bases where we can capture knowledge articles and documentation on previous projects. This would avoid duplication of efforts."

"I had not worked since 2005, It was nice to be employed again."

"Target was an okay company to work for. I was just grateful for the employment opportunity."

"Management was great. I learned a great deal in the short time I worked there about the retail business."

"I like some of my peers and associates but struggle with the pressure to perform and am not motivated by the measures of business. I am motivated by others and making selling meaningful."

"I would take pressure off individuals to meet and exceed selling goals. It puts managers in a position to focus on reports more than their people face to face."

"Target genuinely cares about team members' well-being and engagement and is always trying to find new ways to show it."

"Have a clear understanding of what retail management is like and make sure you honestly can see yourself in it for the long haul."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"It is retail management, so it can feel a lot like babysitting. Also, the culture conflicts with the need for performance feedback, which turns feedback into a passive-aggressive event that is not very constructive and very subjective."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Target expects amazing results, but does not properly allocate payroll to achieve them. Many projects/initiatives at the store level are left unfinished because more pressing matters require manager's attention."

"I don't really have anything bad to say about Target, maybe the current hiring of managers. I think a college education is great but work experience is always a key factor."
