Working at Target in Seattle, WA: 2 Employee Reviews

Sales Cashier

What do you like about working at Target?

"The people you get to work with."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"The working conditions and the lack of consideration for employees from senior staff."

District Facilities Manager

"Not for the technically inclined."

What do you like about working at Target?

"You have the physical resources and training that you need to complete the job the majority of the time. Target does a great job with explicit communication."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Have five meaningful concise stories to share about working with a team and customer service."

What don't you like about working at Target?

"As a District Facilities Manager it all comes down to politics. You have legitimate authority over your direct reports but you are also held accountable for what the store teams don't do (i.e. cleaning their restrooms.) You performance success is determined more by feedback provided by store managers and district mangers then your actual ability to manage facilities. To move anywhere else in the succession plan requires that you go store side as an assistant store manager for three years then a store manager for a couple of years and then you can become a Group Facilities Manager. Technical skills are not valued as demonstrated by the promotion of retail mangers into Group and Regional Facilities Manager positions."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Help DFMs feel more like a member of District Leadership rather than just Housekeeping Contract Administrator.Explain why DFMs are the only leaders in the company who dont participate in the bonus structure."
