"Young culture, great people, smart people to work with, can be high pressure sometimes."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you're not coming into business or design, don't come here. You want perks and fast promotions. Go to design or another company. If you work for a company that doesn't make money, you won't see any money. And if you work for a department that doesn't drive future growth, you won't see any money."
What don't you like about working at Advanced Micro Devices?
"Poor execution, below-industry raises, bad hires, heavy management disconnect (favor people playing the politics game who are not really contributing). Want to move up? Brown nose and concur to what others say in meeting. Just act like you know what's going on when you really don't. For management, when times are bad, just cut your engineers because you're obviously not going to cut yourself."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Platform engineers do not get any significant rewards and pay bump. This is causing the high attrition rate. Every successful launch, the recognition goes toward design team. Recognize talented engineers and reward them, just like MSFT and GOOG who retains high talent. Execution is also very poor, with most of the decisions made by upper management. When upper management makes mistake, more engineers are cut as a result, thus leaving a top-heavy company. Lower level talented engineers are leaving."
What do you like about working at Nokia?
"No responsibility and no urgency, lack of focus, poor communication."

"Future outlook for the company is dire with the executive mgt not cleaning house as they should be."
What don't you like about working at Nokia?
"Mgt is somewhat non-standard in that an employee can report to multiple people who all demand a certain level of attention."

"Fire myself and hire someone that understands the how to make money in the business."

"I did not enjoy my time there. I felt that I even lost experience"

"Leave now, don't get sucked in. Really, I'm not kidding"

"Periods of micromanagement while still have a lack of direction. Get something done, but we can't give you any idea what"

"Actually had a mentor-ship model in place so that junior employees could get shown the ropes"

"people are not held accountable for actions while others are"

"more accountability, better guidelines, higher standards, more training for techs"

"My job at SAIC is stable, relatively interesting, low stress, and the salary/benefits are competitive."

"The only way to advance very far is to leave the company entirely and try to get hired back a few years later in a better position."

"SAIC corporate has an unbearable bureaucracy. Too much focus on cutting overhead (i.e., everything that makes our lives easier/more pleasant), not enough on cutting dead weight employees that drag everyone else down."

"Focus less on pleasing shareholders. The current strategy is obviously not working."

"negotiate salary well, enjoy the area and people, learn the Japanese culture and business mentality."

"understaffed, low budget for technology, slow to change, old school policies and methodology"

"change work schedules, more work from home, newer technologies, focus on fixing and automating old problems, be more analytic of how time is spent in the department."

"They paid well and they were sincere but misguided in the uderstading of the market they were going after"

"They are out of business. Out of touch. How about G round funding"

"Get real. Listen closely to those who work for you, especially the ones to whom you are paying the most."

"Love the people I work with and how everyday is a new challenge. Always on the cutting edge to provide bigger and better services."

"Know that you are going to be tasked with hard work, some long days and sometimes frustration. But at the end of it the results will be gratifying, you will make good relationships and learn a wide range about the IT industry."

"There isn't much really that I don't like about working here. Would be hard to get a complaint out of me."

"Maybe not as much suggestions as just appreciation for all the opportunities and support they have given me over the years."

"Decent benefits. Okay wages. Flexible working situation. Okay coworkers. It was a job."

"Just don't, unless you really have to or like working as a disposable piece to be chucked out."

"The culture was too rigid. Treated like an orphan while I was there. Departments too interested in stabbing each other in the back."

"More focus on people and less on minor cost reductions that don't save money. Hire better HR people."
