What don't you like about working at TD Bank?

What do you like about working at Dollar General?
"Change is in the air, but it's not coming quickly enough. They are very far behind the market, as far as development and store processes."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Ask lots and lots and lots of questions. Counter offer your given salary. If they are not willing to counter, then walk on. This place can be one of the hardest, most time-consuming retailers. Stand by policy and it will stand by you. Those who don't like to follow the rules (and trust me, there's plenty) will usually not agree with you, but remember that safety belt you have in place."
What don't you like about working at Dollar General?
"I'm a store manager. Let me do what my title entitles me to, and let me run my store. If you really think that some of us couldn't handle the real challenges of running a business, then why did you hire us? Those individuals who are glorified stockers need to be put in that SA position, and a new fresh, better salaried manager who can run a business needs to be put in place."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Let's move past 1989. I would stop the nonstop building of new stores, and focus on my current assets. A new, refreshing look would encourage a new kind of shopper. Let's move past just offering the basics for the poor, and let's encourage a mix of both new and old shoppers. Also, why can't we streamline our processes and acknowledge the ability of sales to payroll hours?"

"Some districts are like a popularity contests; with managers of all levels trying to get to the top. If you oppose brown-nosing, it will be hard for you to get promoted."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"For store managers: Don't separate yourselves from your associates and assistant managers; having a good relationship with them makes the experience so much more enriching for all of us; Ive seen SMs who spend their times kissing up to upper management and neglect cultivating great relationship with people in their own store. Upper management: Listen to your SMs, set them up for success, it is one thing to be hands-off but when SMs have to fend for themselves and turn to each other for guidance and support, you are not doing your job."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"It's not all fun and games like everyone thinks. It's a lot of demands with little pay and no incentives. People do a lot of shady things to make their numbers look good and when those customers come back for a refund or a cancellation on a reserve, you're the one getting hit with it, not the moron who caused it in the first place."
What don't you like about working at Game Stop?
"Micro-management from District managers, low amount of hours for sales associates, store runs off of two to three associates throughout the day even on weekends, fear of being terminated for hitting unrealistic goals, lack of coverage when associates are out sick, company obsessed with beating out the competitors (Best Buy/Target) but could care less about the well being of its employees, very low pay for large work load, promotion from within for management is rare...usually they hire from outside the company for store managers, area managers, and district managers"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop leading by fear! Hire someone to be a floating rep so when stores have call-outs there is someone to come in and help out. Reprimand those who aren't selling with integrity so they can just hit their reservation and subscriptions goals"

"If you aren't good at faking it, from the walk to the talk to the way you present yourself, this isn't the company for you."

"Because of the superficial nature of the hiring practices, those who are worthy and deserving of promotions and have a team which loves them will get promoted after someone better looking and/or someone who will step on anyone and anything to better themselves - the company loves a brown-noser, not a hard worker."
