"Be prepared for erratic schedules and conflicting, ambiguous direction from supervisors. Otherwise, there are some great people, and selling books is very rewarding."

What don't you like about working at Barnes & Noble?

"The hours were terrible. Frequent double talk from supervisors. Misguided budgets for payroll. Inconsistent direction."

"You must have a love for the product. You can't be a champion of the B&N values unless you are a true believer."

What don't you like about working at Barnes & Noble?

"Poor training and used a lot of my personal money to influence promotional material to make financial numbers. These expenses where not reimbursed."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Roll out new programs with vigor and well thought out training, as opposed to spending the money to revisit the programs after failed initial rollout. Listen to their managers and what they know of their demographic before rolling out programs."
