"I worked with Office Depot for 4 months as a job during high school, I got the job to start building my job experience and make some money on the side. I also did it because other than school I had a lot of time on my hands. It was a decent job that paid pretty well for retail, everything was pretty nice about it but unfortunately I got laid off due to budget cuts. However if I were to recommend a retail job for a person just starting it would be Office Depot."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't expect too much. Compensation is great for upper levels, but lower levels are expected to do the impossible for little compensation. Also, it is sink or swim. Make sure you find a mentor and get them to give you names of where to get information in the company. The training for that is minimal and you will be expected to pull things out of the air, so contacts are everything. And they are located all over the country, i.e., sales numbers are generated out of GA, corporate is in FL, etc."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They need to find more user friendly bonus plans and monitoring systems for the sales force."
