Business Development Manager

"Worst company I ever worked for. Terrible management with no business savvy. I brought them 1.5 million in business and they couldn't work out simple details. Staples had no problem taking on these customers. No organization whatsoever. I couldn't even get a list of current customers in my territory. Wasted over 50% of my prospecting time calling prospects who were already customers. This, in turn made it look like I had no idea what I was doing."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"All new people. Take management classes. Don't hire a manager because he could throw a fastball (baseball). (I'm not kidding) I was an outside sales person. If I wasn't at a certain productivity level I had to stay in the office on Mondays. That's 20 of my time an office when I'm supposed to be outside working. I could see if we were actually working a plan to improve but people would just sit around all day and talk. You don't have meetings at 8:00 on Monday mornings. You also don't have meetings at 3:00 pm on Friday. Doesn't create an environment for an effective meeting."

"Company is at a disarray. Cancelled all benefits like bonuses, 401k matching and raises. Closed a bunch of stores and then laid off some of their best workers in order to save money. They rely too much on the technology department with tech services and warranties. This is not Best Buy."
