Working at Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, IL: 18 Employee Reviews

Contract Project Engineer

What do you like about working at Northrop Grumman?

"Location."

Systems Administration Engineer

"Great place to work, people need to lighten up."

What do you like about working at Northrop Grumman?

"Time flexibility."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"You will get the job if you really want it :) Don't make it your permanent job, make it your resume builder."

What don't you like about working at Northrop Grumman?

"Ugly dirty competition amongst employees."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay attention to those who actually do work and have made a difference within, from coming in on time every day to work, all the way to saving the company a $1.00."

Systems Engineer

"If you're looking to increase your technical knowledge, work somewhere else."

What do you like about working at Northrop Grumman?

"The chance to be involved with large-scale projects, handling requirements, and interfacing with subcontractors is a helpful thing to learn at least one time in one's career history."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"For the division in Rolling Meadows where I worked, it is important to acknowledge the importance of school reputation -- that was my experience anyways. Expect to have well-spoken HR interviewers, who will check in somewhat devious ways, whether or not you are willing to assist a person in difficulty. Remember that this company deals with government-classified information, so knowing how to keep confidential information to yourself is important."

What don't you like about working at Northrop Grumman?

"Because the division I worked for was involved in the development of military products, there is a lot of bureaucracy involved with security clearances. This slows down the pace of work tremendously, and contributes to an attitude of complacency amongst the engineers. If you are looking for highly motivated workers, don't expect to find too many at the location where I worked."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management could be more involved with developing technical capabilities of their staff, (instead of focusing so much on the presentation aspects of working at Northrop Grumman)."
