"Nordstrom has a strong reputation for being one of the largest, enduring businesses that remains profitable. As a family owned business, their business model remains dated but is proven effective. Nordstrom is a leader in high end fashion, fashion trends and has a limited number of very large stores across the nation. Nordstrom is also a primary source of label purchases such as Calvin Klein or Thomas Pink. Because of this, Nordstrom is seen a very high end distribution and department shopping paradise."

Sales Representative

"I've worked for Nordstrom for over 7 years as a sales representative. I am a leader in my department, other sales people look to me for help and advice. Manger always depend on me to make sure everything runs good when they are not there. I am always in the top 5 sales people out of 20. I have been a All Star two times since I have been with the company. I have been offered to a assistant manger numerous times, but had to decline because I had to focus on school."

"I was with this company for 3 years. I've had good managers and HORRIFIC managers. They do not care at all if you have any type of education.they actually look down on it. I cannot say that I ever enjoyed it. If you like fake people, having managers talk down to you and have them critique what your hair looks like (I can't make this up) and you enjoy kissing up an obscene amount just to try to get ahead, then maybe this place is for you."

"I worked for Nordstrom for 4 years, In this time I was able to work through college due to their flexable schedule as well as commission incentives. There was plenty of room for upward mobility and the type of employee that Nordstrom hires makes for a very pleasant working envornment. There are many people who make their careers at Nordstrom and I can understand why, but in order to truely make a livable wage you must work and apply yourself much more than other more rewarding positions."

Customer Relationship Coordinator

"Nordstrom is a fantastic company that values their employees and customers. It's a great place to get your foot in the door if you have a passion for customer service or sales and will help you build on the skills you need to be successful in those arenas. At times I believe the benefits and compensation for service/non-sales positions could be better, and more value needs to be placed in new-hire training and development. However it is still a wonderful organization."

"Nordstrom FSB treated me exceedingly well as an employee. The reason I stayed with the company so long is purely due to the companies merit and the way they treat their employees. Despite the position being one I was not experienced with, Nordstrom offered me appropriate training and resources to succeed. I have only good things to say about all facets of Nordstrom Corp."

"Being able to work in this industry is a privilege, and being employed by companies such as Nordstrom, REI and Prep Sportswear has been amazing. I find each company to be different, but it has allowed me to strengthen as an individual and be a versatile professional."

"I started working for Nordstrom's website back in 2011 when Nordstrom decided to switch to an Agile Software delivery cycle for web features. I was told that Nordstrom was investing in the web heavily, and so left my old workplace to take a chance on this organization.Let me tell you, big mistake. They have no plans, and do not listen to their front line employees. It's all about who you know, and not what value you bring. The leadership is out of touch with how things are done and more interested in being yes men to the product management group, that they overlook the main issues that are affecting them not being able to deliver things to the website. Do NOT work for the IT organization. It isn't worth your time and headaches."

"There should be blogs, books, class-action lawsuits *galore* for how awful this place is to work. Deceitful, cut-throat, villainess, retaliatory and a place where I saw true evil. Does Blake Nordstrom know how poorly its sales employees are treated Expectations upon hire don't tell you not making commission (paying for yourself times ten) is called a MISDRAW and you'll be punished. Opp Checks, malicious managers, discouraged from time off: it's truly the WORST company to be employed by."

"Cool place to work. Great place to work if you aspire to have a career in retail. There is always room for promotion if your numbers are high enough. It's all about the numbers so make sure that your sales are great and they will love you. Can be a bit stressful due to commission sales. Overall you learn a lot, but not for everybody."

"I worked there for almost 4.5 years and it was like having a family, but conversations that took place were not work appropriate and management is selective about who they hold accountable. As long as you choose not to participate in these conversations, you should do fine there."
