"Be mobile or open to relocation at all times, because it is now an expectation."

What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?

"You have to be mobile. I have moved five times and am not mobile any more."

"Look at the talent, not the mobility of the person."

"You don't need experience to enter the field. However, the training is horrible."

"Get in, gain some experience, and then get out. There is little to no training and no tuition reimbursement."

"The training is horrible. The career path is non-existent. The pay for growing is not worth relocating."

"Hold bad leaders accountable, and replace them with good ones."

"I like my coworkers, the product, taking care of the customers, benefits, and creativity."

"Be big! Show a lot of personality. If you want to make the big bucks, work in shoes."

What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?

"In my experience, when someone has a preconceived notion about you, it never goes away, even if others see you in a positive light. I'm sure this is true in many businesses. It's just a little harder when so many companies' leaders are women. Women have had such a hard time getting ahead in their careers, that they look at every woman as a competitor."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think some of the upper level management still don't connect with the sales force on the floor. They speak the inverted pyramid, but don't reach out enough to learn what the customer really needs."

"It's good pay and good customer service."

"Be ready to work weekends and holidays."

"The pay is not steady, they overstaff, and the holiday weekends are horrible."
