"I've worked for Nordstrom for about a year, and I'm planning on staying for a long time. I feel supported in my ambitions to move up and grow within the company. Our full time benefits are great. All of our supervisors have started at the bottom, so they're understanding and relatable. Our executives are incredibly involved and work hard to improve the experiences of both customers and employees."

What do you like about working at Nordstrom?

"I enjoyed the people I worked with and the customers. I formed many long-term relationships."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Take what they say with a grain of salt. They give you grand expectations but these are only very rare."

What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?

"There was so much time when there were no customers. I need to be continually challenged."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management needs to be more upfront with the employees. In reviews they would be very brief, simply saying everything is ok or what happened However, they would not offer any words of advice or encouragement. They simply said get the sales up or we'll have to let you go."

What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?

"When trying to work your way up (or down) from the floor, you can get the feeling that there's some politics. And, you better know someone in the corporate area, because it's a challenge to get off the floor."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I love my manager. If you tell her what your goals are and where you want to go, she'll help you out as much as she can. I feel like most managers are the same here, but I have heard of a few managers that can really drop the ball."
