"I have worked for Walmart for 5+ years starting from a courtesy associate to a cashier and finally as a sales associate. The management was friendly and the staff was excellent. My time there has helped me with my social interactions and customer assistance, whether it is ringing them up through checkout or helping find a certain item."

"Lots of autonomy at store as store manager to make decisions on how to operate the store. This company puts a lot of confidence in it's department managers in daily store operations, and in turn sees most of it's store manager's come up from the hourly ranks. I was given the opportunity to run my store (district) as if it were my own business within the boundaries and parameters set forth by the company."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you can get on board with this company, you should. Once there make sure to learn everything you can from the experienced associates (both hourly and salaried) the associates are what makes Wal-Mart such a great place to work and shop. Take care of your associates and they will take care of you, never lose sight of this priority and you will stay successful with this company."

"towards the end I saw too many career promotion decisions being made to fill quotas and less emphasis put on who was the best qualified person for the job."
