"I've worked at JPMC for about 6 to 7 months now. Coming from a background in systems engineering I was a little bit underwhelmed by my role and responsibilities. I applied for a position as a Linux Systems Engineer and was told I would instead be doing Infrastructure Support. My day to day job is helping developers troubleshoot new code deployments to the continuous delivery environment ( dev, test, qa ). Occasionally we also participate in code deployments using Jenkins. The primary responsibility of the role is to identify root causes and prevent them from occurring again. I was not feeling very challenged by this opportunity so I started writing some code to automate some of the job's toil using shell, PowerShell, and Python. This was well received by my managers and my position slowly changed into a development role. Ive been happier since my responsibilities changed, but ultimately I don't intend to stay here for very long."
