"Good experience opportunity, but don't expect encouragement or consistency. Think of a teenage mother rasing a child, and you will be prepaired."

"Moderate lack of profesionalism throughout the organization."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Family owned. Since you can't choose family, Hire some senior profesionals (actually have training and succesful experience in their field) and listen to them for two years. Keep your cronies, to learn half of what is offered, and go back to an improved version of business as usual."

"Very good Company, with good products. However, some divisions lack good senior management. In these areas, counter productive politics run rampant."
What do you like about working at BASF?
"In the manufacturing areas I was in (4 different ones) the average workers and front line managers were well above average."

"Good company, good products. But if you don't enjoy politics, make sure your manager is aware, or your department could be the next scapegoat."
What don't you like about working at BASF?
"A German culture where it is dificult to admit to problems, when you do not have a solution yet, was ok because their technical people were very driven and resourcefull. This was warped in America to, the managers creating problems they could resolve, to make themselves look needed, and to marginalize many of the technically competant."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"360 degree reviews, and pay for performance. These were both attempted, and quickly abandoned, because of the truth it brought to the light."
