"worst experience of my life"
What do you like about working at Performance Friction?
"when the president is out of the office the company is not that bad to work for."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Dont even go there unless you like to be screamed at and to be bullied all day long for no reason. You will also have to give up all your personal life. And forget about career, there is none there."
What don't you like about working at Performance Friction?
"The president (owner) creates a horrible work environment. He assaults people all day long like they are his slaves and not his employees. People tend to leave the company in 1-2 months because no one can put up with his abuse!"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"The owner should not be the president, he should hire a decent president. Or he should go take some lessons to learn how to lead people and to build some technical knowledge as well"

"Generally the company has great colleagues and flexibility. I learned a lot from my experience here."

"There is too much bureaucracy. Getting something approved takes too much time."

"I suggest more development actions, rather than talk. This would make a company more competitive."

"The company is contracting from it's growth in the the decade from 1995 - 2005."

"Don't waste your time; run away as fast as you can."

"Mentality of the employees, the way work is distributed, the amount of work there is, how insignificant your superiors regard you, and you barely use your skill set."

"Work harder on retaining younger people. Acknowledge the financial benefits/pay needed to retain employees and keep them happy."

"Didn't see any growth on my position and I traveled 90 % of the time."

"Be more specific on project scope and time line. Overall I like the company and I learned so much in my past 6 years working with Watson."

"Access to high technology and working on new products wtih partners in other countries."

"Hire into a growing division. Make sure you are happy with your starting salary, as raises are not often lately."
What don't you like about working at Hewlett-Packard?
"There are too many managers that don't add any value to the programs. We hire bad candidates and end up firing good engineers because of company politics."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Push managers to retain key talent. Invest more in research and development and enter new markets, not just follow what everyone else is doing."
What do you like about working at Toshiba?
"The pay is good. I can easily bike to work from downtown (close to one of the off-street bike paths). Generally moderate hours (rarely over 40 per week)."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"For entry level engineering positions, just show that you have a basic competency in the idea behind the equipment. From there, try to grab onto 1 skill that may be of use - for me it was some basic Japanese. That was enough to seal the deal for me.Toshiba International Corporations Power Systems Division, specifically, does not get many applicants for our jobs. You are very likely not competing against more than a few other applicants."
What don't you like about working at Toshiba?
"It is hard to innovate. Management does not allow the first few tiers of employees to problem solve their department. That is only handled by senior management, who does not have time for tasks like that, which are relatively low-level. It makes the workplace a little stagnant and unable to improve, solve customer problems, etc."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Provide a clear trajectory for the company. We also need some sort of metrics so that we know where we stand. Give employees more control over business development to increase corporate buy-in."
What do you like about working at Broadcom?
"People are nice all the time and I have friends."

"Make sure you fit within the group you are interviewing with."

"I don't have a good sense of stability in our group."

"I would give more freedom to designers and coach them properly."

"Strong atmosphere of training and development. Biggest downside is political interference."

"Manitoba Hydro is balanced-hard work is rewarded, but so is seniority. It can be a slothful government organization, but there is very cool technology. Work-life balance is emphasized and the benefits are generous, but you are expected to work."

"Technical and financial justifications ignored. Decisions made for political reasons"

"Invest more in technical innovation. Stand up for employees against politicians"

"Like the biotech space, cutting-edge technologies and remaining good people."

"Run away! Constant re-structuring, lay-offs and reduction of benefits. Only good if you are VP or higher."

"Management, projects run by arbitrary dates as oppossed to rational project plans. Punishing the innocent and rewarding the non-productive."

"Realize that your employees are your greatest asset. Treating them like chattel just means you lose the best and brightest."

"There is some interesting work, but depending on the division you are in, you might get screwed over with raises."

"There is too much bureaucracy, and management will turn down contracts or ideas for no good reason."
