What do you like about working at Miami University?
"The city of Oxford was about it. Really disappointed in my Alma Mater."

"Walk away. If you want to work in Higher Education, but you have morals and/or integrity... walk away. There are plenty of other schools."
What don't you like about working at Miami University?
"Everything else. It's beyond political. It's Roman politics. Present a good idea and someone will steal it, maybe have you fired if you don't play ball."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Suck an egg. Seriously, these people were so intent upon making sure the Emperor (President, who is a complete dolt) had no idea he was nude that they'd strip nude themselves. They need to stop hiring consultants for $4 million to come in and tell leadership how to save $2 million and oh, what a good job they're doing while what they're really doing is hurling government dollars down the toilet."

"Too sales focused, not enough retention focus. More and more often we are over-extending ourselves."

"I have suggested a more standardized sales presentation so that there is a more consistent understanding of our product deliverables."

"I think they should hire more sales representatives and focus on that, so the R&D can continue."

"I don't have any suggestions to the management as they are very good and efficient at what they do."

"I can not afford to live on my current salary and, twice now they have not followed through on the raise they specified, which makes me afraid that they do not have the funds. necessary. And as much as I like working remotely, it would be nice to work at a company next to other developers, as I feel I would learn a lot more."

"Well the only issue I have had in my programming carrer is employers not following through on what they say, so my only suggestion would be to follow through."

"It was company that I felt very good about and enjoyed the company of my coworkers there. The facility was nice and they believed in keeping up with current technology standards."

"The same general tips that would apply to any company, be prompt, communicate clearly, be relaxed, and don't discuss yourself at great length."

"It would've been nice to feel like I could have done more and provide everything that I could."

"The senior management there was really great and it would be hard to find an area that needed improving."

"Don't look here for a career, just use it for a stepping stone to the next job, you'll be better off."

"Many highly successful projects were completed but there was a lack of reward for a job well done. Threatening atmosphere underneath the familial one."

"Stop being behind the rest of the industry and innovate and maybe it would be better."

What do you like about working at Brandt?
"There isn't much to say about enjoying this company in its current state of affairs. Perhaps if I was more inclined in the print industry, this would be a better fit, but I'm a technology person where this industry and this place of employment seem to be lacking the forward-thinking that it takes to get ahead."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Every place of work is going to have issues. That's inevitable, no matter where you go. Sometimes those issues can severely inhibit productivity and that's what I take issue with. When politics and closed-mindedness get in the way of progress, it really bothers me. That's what I would be weary of when coming to work here."
What don't you like about working at Brandt?
"My role here at this company has switched significantly from what I was originally hired to do. I no longer get to focus on my primary area of expertise and have moved into a more menial role, which is neither rewarding, nor reassuring. I often feel like many of my ideas for this company are stopped in its tracks by the owner because some of them cost money. Marketing initiatives and website content ideas often fall on deaf ears here."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Invest more time, effort, and money into giving your employees the ability to help the company and broaden your horizons a bit. Understand that it takes spending money to make money some times and that not everybody is out to get you. Trust that the people you hire are looking out for the best interest of the company."

"I liked the flexible hours and the projects that we worked on."

"Be prepared to be pulled in many different directions at the same time."

"The environment was tough to get things done because of the lack of direction and focus."

"I would suggest that they focus on what they are good at and not try to do anything and everything. It needs to be more focused."

"I really like the job and the work. I especially like my boss and the way we work together. He treats me with respect and dignity!"

"They are great people and it is a great place to work."

"The fact that it is a start up company and we are forced into a layoff situation. The job at this point had no benefits, but I feel if it could get off the ground, it would be an incredible job."

"I wish that they had a deeper cash base to keep us moving while we were working out the kinks in the business model."

"Very talented people working on something (telemedicine) that, at its best, has the potential to do a lot of good for society."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Keep your ears open. It's a nice place to work if you can put up with conditions not like a typical Rails shop. They'll tell you this in the interview, so believe it when they say so!"

"There's a bit of a disconnect between management, who are sometimes a little stuck in the past, and developers, who want to move forward and be more agile."

"Let go a little. The developers can take more control of their work."

"Be open to what you know and show your real knowledge to the company."

"Nothing to dislike about it. Happy with the way it is."
What do you like about working at Rio Hondo College?
"I love working as a tutor and workshop facilitator for the MESA program at Rio Hondo College. The only bad thing is it's not a viable career option."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"I'm not sure what position you'll be interviewing for. If you're interviewing as a professor you've got a lot to prove of yourself. Most of the professors at Rio Hondo College are stellar. If you're trying to get a job as a tutor, like me, the best way to go about that is to do well in the math classes and attend all the AEW workshops available for those classes. Get to know the staff. And make sure to join the MESA program. If you are very active in MESA and you get good grades they'll pretty much hire you no problem. Not much of an interview process.If you're not good enough to make it as a tutor for the MESA program, you might want to try your luck at the MSC (Math and Science Center). They hire people with less skills. However that's a totally different environment than I'm familiar with. The pay is less and the hours are funny. I'm sure it's still a kickback job compared to being a waiter or something, though."

"Like I said earlier the only thing bad about the job is it's not a viable career"

"I wouldn't be as good as who's running it now"
