"Talk to actual sailors and actual officers in depth to understanding what culture, work environment, and workload are really like. There is a lot of excitement and benefits to be had, but you absolutely need to know what you're getting into. Commercials are inaccurate."

"Really crappy command climate when it came to looking out for your people or being inclusive as a team. if the boss didn't like you, you were definitely an outsider. If you spoke up about unethical issues you were ignored or dismissed. You would be piled with work, then the boss would leave early, little leadership by example. Nonsensical processes were used, like working 14 hour days when it wasn't necessary. Sexual discrimination. lack of a culture of teamwork. Lack of holding people accountable for discipline issues."

"Advocate for my people, create a command climate of equal opportunity, hold everyone to the same standard, promote teamwork, enforce discipline, listen to people's feelings, be respectful, be professional."

"All depends on the command at which you are stationed. The conventional military is ridiculous with the micromanaging and self-serving supervisors... not to mention everyone will treat you like you are completely incompetent. If you are in special warfare, you life is much much better."

"The officer/enlisted barrier is a bit ridiculous and managers need to be able to lead based off the skills and potential of their subordinates."
