"I've been working for UNC's Carolina Week for about two years now. The show airs on Wednesdays at 5pm and is run by UNC journalism students. We cover issues concerning the community and students. We create Readers, VOs, VO/SOTs, MOS' and PKGs on breaking news topics. We've recently begun doing live on the scene shots with Reporters."

"The salary and benefits are not good compared to many other Universities. The offices are loud and not conducive to doing work."

"Hold employees accountable for behaviors and address issues when they occur. Fix salary issues."

"No structure, no plan, no time constraint, bias depending on the accent, look and nationality."

"More feasibility analysis, better planing, better use of money, more support for junior people to plan their future."

"This is a non applicable question since I was a student and a Research Assistant. Enthusiasm and self drive should be present for such position."

"Since it is a young institution, there have been few obstacles along my career that took more resolving efforts than necessary."

"Correct communication is key. Minimization of documentation and misunderstanding between staff members and engineers can lead to friendly environment."

"Relaxed, no strong deadlines, flexibility, varied topics in work and environment."

"Don't work here expecting to get a lot of things done very quickly - but you have the free time to explore what you want."

"Getting something done that involves other people takes forever - not enough centralization."

"The problem isn't the whole of UNC, it's just my department. Other departments ARE vibrant, creative and collaborative. Mine just needs a fresh spark."

"In the academic world, non-PhD professionals are frequently treated with disdain by degree holders (often at the same time said academics are seeking out your expertise because they have no understanding of technology whatsoever)."

What don't you like about working at University of North Carolina?

"UNC has become terribly risk-averse, and its response to previous problems has been to create nightmarish bureaucratic entanglements that make it hard to actually obey all the rules so that there is ALWAYS someone to blame when something goes wrong. Having someone to blame is more important than doing things right."

"We need to spend less time worrying about everything that could possibly go wrong and focus on the opportunities for success that we have."

"The staff and the pay are excellent. It is challenging."

"I would tell them to make sure they know what they're signing up for."

"I'm doing too much research when I would rather work with people."

"I would incorporate more time working with people opposed to just doing research."

"This was my Senior Capstone Project. My client was very friendly and the education department was very grateful."

"Don't wait for the last minute be proactive and have fun."

"I Felt a bit too rushed, not a big time frame to finish the project had to put in major hours to finish in time."

"None, this was the greatest project to get experience for the real world"

"Job stability and working with college-age population (keeps me young). Departmental technology is top-notch."

"Do not feel discouraged if you do not get the job. Many hires are pre-determined even before the application and interview process."

"Fear of change and lack of innovation in overall culture."

"The campus location is not very safe. Robbery happens sometime."
