"They hired someone with zero supervisory experience who didn’t know the university policies and procedures, even though she came from another state university in NC. She lets one person work through lunch and leave early because she likes them, but refuses to let those she doesn’t like. She thinks nothing of telling you your personal (non-work related) faults as if it were appropriate to do. She threatens to write you up for things that she can’t write you up for. If you ask for help, she tells you she figured it out so you should be able to, even though she was the department representative for that particular project. Way too much favoritism and you have no recourse because HR is a joke and the director wouldn’t get involved. After working for UNCG for 18 years with no personnel issues, I left the university less than a year after working under this person. The worst supervisor I’ve ever encountered."
"I've worked for NCCU for 8 years. When I first started, I loved the job. The work environment was good and the people had integrity. Now, everyone is for self and promoting their friends and not the person who is most qualified. Also, from the top down could use an overhaul. The entire University is toxic from the Chancellor to the corrupt HR department. If you are thinking about working here, DON'T!"
"Great school! The teachers cared about the students and the facilities were great. Coursework revolved around a hands on approach and I was able to learn a lot while attending this school. I met many great people and I feel confident I will be able to advance my career with the education that I received."
"Promises made that are never followed through with."
"Average size HBCU. Limited resources. People are generally nice to work with."
"depends on the department you are working for"
"The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy is a great place to work. It offers a very strong supportive environment for its employees and a clear path to advancing ones career."
"I have worked with UNC Charlotte for the past one year in different departments. There is a lot of learning and collaboration in the job. We discuss the different projects and the best practices. The supervisors are very friendly and helpful and they don't micro-manage. They let us innovate to come up with different solutions."
"I have worked for UNC Charlotte for over a year. They are very passionate about teaching the next generation of students. Management is always willing to listen and change their processes to help the employees. They are years in front of other companies and strive to get better."
"I worked in a research lab at WCU where we tested water quality and treated wastewater. It was a nice working environment where I gained some analytical skills and worked with instruments such as the FAAS, ICP-OES, and FT-IR. I love working in the lab often and hoping to get an opportunity to work in a lab."
