What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I like my staff and the autonomy of my role."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Reconsider. This company does not care about its employees. It's too big to do so."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I dislike my boss's lack of concern and poor management ability. There are politics in upper management - they are sneaky and corrupt. There are no growth opportunities. Yearly evaluations are based on quotas, and not so much on performance."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Listen and take better care of your employees."

Senior Project Analyst

"UHG is a good company to work for, and absolutely the best group to work with. They are talented, dedicated, and have a positive outlook on life."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"A great deal of autonomy was provided, as well as potential for moving up in the company. Work load was high at some points, but everyone worked toward a common goal and made it worthwhile."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I was originally hired to work for a company called American Medical Security. We were purchased by UnitedHealth Group. As a small company of 2,000 employees, we were quickly assimilated into a company of 55,000. The work environment and culture became quite different. Many people left the company; many were let go. The atmosphere was very repressed. After two years I voluntarily chose to move on and find and new challenging career."

Training Coordinator

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you don't need health care benefits, and the pay you are offered is adequate, it's a great place to work."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't announce that there are no pay increases and then two weeks later say how great profits are."

CFO

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I like the career opportunities, benefits, being able to work from home, the leadership, that it's a successful growing company, and it is close to home."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be honest and to the point, while still giving the company a sense of what you do on a day-to-day basis."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"The benefits are not the best at UnitedHealth Group, and job security is not great."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"They should focus more on healthcare-saving initiatives and not waste so much time on forecasts."

Equipment Services Project Manager

"12 years ago it was a great place to work that truly serviced the customer. Managers knew the applications of those they managed. This is now the exception instead of the rule."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I enjoyed the people I worked with who had been there over 10 years. They were a wealth of knowledge and were, in general, happy to share their knowledge."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ask for the money up front, and be wary of lateral promotions, as these will negatively impact your salary if you serve with them for years as I did."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"The set-up model for downstream functional areas leads to lack of self-knowledge. There are too many policies and procedures, and no dedicated account management teams. The company got too thick in the middle - too many chiefs and not enough Indians."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"There should be less middle management and more system enhancements. Hire college-degreed customer care professionals. Promote from within. Demand CBAs and better forecasting for new products. The core product offering is being neglected as resources, time, and money are being absorbed. In the end, very few of these spinoff products succeed in the market."

Clinical Training Specialist

"Great company, but they are growing too fast."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"UHG is a very good company! They have opportunities to diversify knowledge base."

"Be on your A-game!"

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?
