"I have worked for UnitedHealth Group for more than a year and I can honestly say that I am very satisfied and happy with my job. I have great coworkers, great management, and the culture within the company is fantastic. Is everything perfect, no... Nothing ever is. You'll always have those one or two people that want to put a black cloud over everything, but overall is a great place to work. I am fortunate enough that I work from home, but I am very much part of an active and cohesive team. Those who aren't satisfied in their current positions have MANY options available to them to move elsewhere in the organization. We are HUGE and there is NO reason someone should stay where they are unhappy, the options ARE out there. Yeah, the health insurance can use some work... You'd think we'd have a platinum version of healthcare, but instead we have a high deductible plan; other than that... I'm good. I see myself here for a VERY long time."

"Good place to work and it is flexible for what I needed. I think that the overall company is run well and it has challenges inherent with any large company. Resources are always limited because of the bottom line that is demanded by share holders and requirements are always changing for the health care sector."

"I worked with UnitedHealthcare for the last year. I loved the job but would have rather had a full time work at home position rather than having to come to the office."

"I've worked for United Health for over 5 years. In that time, nothing has changed to keep up with the times technologically. The company is too focused on metrics and getting claims out the door than they are to figure out new and faster ways to do old tasks."

"Great place to work, they take care of their employees. However, when it comes to technology they want to get ahead and switch to new technologies but don't seem to have the knowledge of how to go about it."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"I like the okay benefits and time off for employees. However.... see below."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Honestly, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, unless you have no experience. Then get your experience and get out."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"The organization makes a good speech about how they care. However, their actions speak volumes. They move offices to different cities on a whim. Suddenly hundreds of people are out of a job. They will not work with you to improve your performance; they will deal with you until they don't need you and send you out the door. Discrimination and harassment go unchecked in many of the smaller towns because people are desperate to have a job. The organization froze employee salaries a few years back (but gave themselves nice stock options). All of the real UHG visionaries left about five years ago because there was no compassion for employees or patients. The focus was on making a buck and making more than they did the prior year. Sell more, work faster, then outsource to 3rd parties or offshore work to India. The organization keeps acquiring smaller insurance companies because it's the only way they can keep up their growth, but they loose a lot of members and employees when the nature of the behemoth becomes apparent. Claims aren't consistently processed because there is a work-around for a work-around that was changed yesterday, and an email went out but, oh, you weren't on the distribution list."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get back to basics of health care! Get a soul and understand that when you close offices to reorganize, people's lives are impacted. People dedicate 15 or 20 years and then are pushed out. UHG is a job, not a career."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Make sure you ask a lot of questions, and meet other people on the team with whom you will be working."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"The environment is very demanding, with little resources and little time. There is little work life balance, and we are expected to do a lot with little to no budget. Entire days are spent in meetings, so the only way to get work done is overtime."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Cut out the bureaucracy so things can get done faster and with less cost."

What do you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"There's plenty of overtime and various duties to run the jobs, in most cases."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Research the position and location you are applying for before you get your hopes up."

What don't you like about working at UnitedHealth Group?

"Most companies give their employees praise for making production. This particular plant gives their seniority parties a pass for bad behavior towards new hires or people they feel intimidated by for whatever reason. They make it a priority to bully employees to the point they either quit or they get fired. I thought we were all there for the same thing... boy, was I wrong."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Have random meetings with employees, or hire undercover HR to visibly see what the hell is really going on with management."
