"Teaching is the greatest job in the world. The biggest downfall, at this time, is the value policy makers put in high-stakes testing. They pay is not great, but cliche or not, the students make it all worth it."

Teacher at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD
in Houston, TX

What do you like about working at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD?

"I like being able to teach students about fine arts."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be prepared for most of your job treading through bureaucratic paperwork, filling out forms, using an array of inefficient software programs, learning a bunch of different programs that politicians institute, dealing with parents who won't help but hurt student progress, dealing with too many other tasks and departments completely unrelated to teaching your students. It leaves little to no time to actually develop lessons and engage students. If you do extra-curricular, like all of fine arts, then your life is really over. 50-70 hour weeks. Summer off really doesn't make up for it, besides you have to go to conventions and festivals with the students over the summer anyways."

What don't you like about working at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD?

"Dealing directly with the public, parents, administrators. Having too many bosses, instead of running one department."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"It's difficult to change due to politics in government and on board."

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Klein is all about the positive news release and maintaining the status quo."

What do you like about working at Klein Independent School District?

"I live in the district and love creating a positive impact on my community."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Learn the culture of KISD - you may need to change churches to be in the right clique."

What don't you like about working at Klein Independent School District?

"The disconnect between administration and teachers. Teacher morale is low, depending on your campus. If you try and make suggestions for improvement, you are looked at as if you attacking the district."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"You need to check teacher morale on campus. If it's low, it's the management style of the campus principals. We aren't in this for the money, but that doesn't mean you can expect us to work for free, without compensation, or even recognition."

What do you like about working at Klein Independent School District?

"I live in the district and love making a positive impact on my community."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"I love working here just because of my freedom in the classroom, but that is slowly going away with all the new teacher requirements. Learn the culture of Klein very quickly. Backdoor approaches work best."

What don't you like about working at Klein Independent School District?

"Teacher morale and the way the administration treats employees. We are told not to complain because we are lucky to have a job, and that if we don't like it, we can leave. Unless you are part of the in group, you are disposable. Guilty of cronyisim."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Improve teacher morale. We feel overworked and under appreciated. Principals can either make or break a school - if teacher morale is low, the principal is doing something wrong."

Teacher at Clark County School District
in Las Vegas, NV

What do you like about working at Clark County School District?

"At my school specifically we have a great team. I love seeing the students learn and progress."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Focus on your ability to improve students in reading and math. That's all anyone cares about anymore."

What don't you like about working at Clark County School District?

"The work is extremely demanding and we are constantly being asked to do more with less. Classroom teachers spend upward of 60 hours a week related to work. The superintendent while saying he cares about us, doesn't actually seem to. Principals and teachers who fail are kept on and shuffled around instead of being given support or fired."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would cut money at the top and provide new and struggling teachers and principals with mentors to help them and monitor their progress. I would raise teacher salaries and give them bonuses for pursuing additional education outside of work. I would assemble a group of teachers to assist in overhauling the district."

"Stay positive. Talk about how you've made growth in ELA and math."

What don't you like about working at Clark County School District?

"I feel like I don't get paid enough for all I do. There's always a concern for whether or not you'll have a job the following year. Each year more and more pressure is put on us and resources are taken away. We are constantly expected to do more with less."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would reduce spending and micromanagement at the highest levels. I would give new teachers and principals mentors to guide them and keep track of their progress. I would gather teachers and ask them what they believe works best. If possible I would raise teacher salaries and give them bonuses for pursuing additional education."

"I like teaching and working with the students. I also think that Nebo does a good job working for teachers."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It's education. Hopefully you already know what you're getting into. It's an extremely bureaucratic district but at the same time, it's quite stable when it comes to budget and helping teachers out."

What don't you like about working at Nebo School District?

"Some state rules aren't followed. I don't feel that the District supports me and the other teachers that do what I do. Many teachers completely refuse to change and complain when change is presented. The list could go on and on."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep teachers and other employees more informed. Completely overhaul district management. I'd look for more progressive, forward thinking ways of doing things that would cut costs and improve student learning and employee morale."
