"The benefits are getting worse and worse, every few years. It's depressing, and people who worked a long time to get full tuition benefits for their children are now kind of screwed"

"Change back to older benefits structures, where the employer took on a greater portion of the cost. They employees really valued it, and it made people want to work here."

"Fellow staff members are pretty decent and communicate well with each other"

"Caveat Emptor. This place paints a pretty picture , but the work will chew you up, spit you out, and not bother to stop and see if you're ok!"

"Micromanaged, poor office staff, management difficult to approach. Definite favoritism for some of the staff: rules don't always apply to them, no consequences for their mistakes...."

"Reward the staff you have, develop and support us. Less punishing type threats."

"Be prepared to work with self-serving, dismal management and inexperienced, new nurses as new hires (gotta save money, you know) within a culture of distrust."

"I was told that they only need to meet minimal care requirements by a manager."

"Resign; a new management team is direly needed from the top to the unit level."

"Know what you are getting into. You are going to work hard 12 hour days and still told that you are not doing enough. Prepare to work as the tech and nurse. Get ready for the leaders that will not back or support you when it comes to the patient families. They will belittle you and your nursing skills to ensure that families will not take their loved one to another hospital even if you are 100% right. The company is all about the money and they will replace you rather than have a patient leave"
What don't you like about working at Select Specialty Hospitals?
"The company fails to listen to the staff that comes in direct contact with the patients. The company only cares about money, how much they can suck dry from Medicare patients (then blaming it on insurance companies when they kick patients out d/t lack of funds) It is a FOR PROFIT company! Not by the clinical because they pay very little for nurses, techs."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I would listen to what the clinical side is saying, if something is to hard, to time consuming or unsafe for patient care. I would also represent the problem on the unit to the big wigs and hope to find a happy medium. I think that administration is afraid to tell the corporation that their policy is unsafe for patient care in fear of them losing their job that they just say okay.....yes we can...... I can implement it to the staff That they end up drowning themselves and end up fired when the staff rebels."

"Friendly staff, a lot of Filipinos working staffs in the unit"

"Don't work there ... But if you don't have other choice then go for it"

"They don't care about you. Mismanagement.. Supervisors and the unit manager are not considerate to your requests"

"Be considerate , ask other staff opinions and respect them.. Be innovative..."

"Learning. People admitted with Different cases, diagnosis, and treatments. I like learning and doing New procedures. I like working with people I get along."

"Be strong at heart. Be confident and assertive. Take your breaks and look after your patients well"

"Heavy load of patients, heavy and confused people. Less staff. Short breaks. Lots of paper. Sometimes doctors not available"

"Opens up to employee more about their performances. Tries time to talk to employees on how to make things better and not dismiss them"

"There are night shifts and day shifts in a week and the turnaround is hard."

"There is not much we could do diffently to improve."

"Great Job assignments, although tough most of the time. Great money for the short term."

"Paycheck issues are difficult to resolve, requiring multiple contacts, and or signatures. Housing could be a lot better. Feedback on housing would be great. Health insurance is expensive."

"Increase the allotment provided for housing stipend and change health insurance benefits rules to be more convinient"
