"Poor communication, dishonesty, poor / inexperienced/ unprofessional management, lack of resources to complete tasks"

"Needs a major Overhaul! all management is young... Another budget gimmick. Very unprofessional irresponsible, and lacking experience."

"Very community-oriented- It's small and allows the staff to provide exceptional care for patients."

"Look for a job in a bigger, teriary facility. This is not a great place to work."

"Administrators are arrogantly careless- they spend money without giving a thought to public accountability. Managers use intimidation and browbeating- the infamous 'nastygram' is very common."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Try finding and encouraging the positive contributions of staff members. The managers can only see mistakes or focus on suboptimal performances without looking at the bigger picture-how the entire shift and patient census may have affected a nurse's job performance."

"I feel like everyone is out to get you, license isn't safe. No one helps only adds to workload. Patients not well taken care of. Disrespected and like a replaceable robot."

"speak to the employees every week. not make them afraid to make mistakes"
What do you like about working at Sibley Memorial Hospital?
"I enjoyed the patients as a whole. The wide variety of patients and surgical procedures was interesting to say the least. I made some special contacts there that will forever be in my life. The environment was one of professionalism, which I regard as one of the highest importance when working with patients and family members. I enjoyed my opportunities at Sibley to increase the patients well being and to aid staff and physicians in the importance of professionalism and asking questions (privately) when the answer is not completely clear. I created a pre and post-op phone call script, included was research indicated to positives and negatives to both, as well as initiated an Above and Beyond box, thereby staff may recognize each other and create staff unity."

"Please remember that the patient comes first, and that personal problems/opinions should be left at home or for lunch break when patients are not around."
What don't you like about working at Sibley Memorial Hospital?
"I disliked some of the disorganization, and the distention between the floors and the PACU. I worked diligently to limit that as much as possible."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"My suggestions for Management would be to take the staff meetings seriously, and to follow up on all that is said. The nurse Manager should be an advocate for her nurses, not an advocate for the other floors. There are ways to allow open communication and limit the bickering between staff members in different units."

"Self paced, self scheduling, resources available, coworkers work as team"

"Be willing to work with a highly trained group of nurses"

"12 hour shfts and working at night. I am interested in day time job"

"Nurse/Patient ratio needs to be more important than budget sometimes."

"Fully 'wired' from the get go. Electronic medical records. Beautiful building and surroundings. It was nice to work weekend option. I liked the nurse patient ratio. Was able to give good care."

"Be open to the fully electronic world. Be flexible. Work well with others."
What don't you like about working at Indiana University Health?
"I do feel I am not paid in accordance with my background and education. In order to learn something new (labor and delivery), I had to give up weekend option pay and therefore take a massive pay cut."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"We have had four different managers in three years so some stability of management would have been nice. Have a wonderful manager now. I think being visible to weekend workers would be nice. I felt sort of forgotten and left out a little."
