"The development environment was very poor. Software was very brittle and did not work out of the box. It required a lengthy procedure to get it to work which required a level of expertise that was simply not attainable by a new person without already having the software up and running so as to be able to learn about it by running it. Documentation was conflicted and out of date. When asked for help, most people would simply refer me to other people, or to the out-of-date documentation."

"I have worked for PayPal, Inc. from 2005 until spring of 2013. The company is strong and is doing very well. They have good ethical values. Unfortunately, the life-work balance is not too pleasant. Employees often must stay late. The other issue is that PayPal doesn't want to send employees to training or classes. It is easier to fire one and hire another. If you are young and ambitious and have a good skills level, go ahead and apply to PayPal."

"Overall good."

What do you like about working at PayPal?

"Great benefits and good pay. Easy travel and good HR."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"It is a good company. Watch out for upcoming reorgs. They love layoffs."

What don't you like about working at PayPal?

"Way too big to get any innovation underway. The company finds it easier to buy another innovative company as opposed to building their own solution. Then that company is never incorporated into the overall solution."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Smaller teams with more authority. Moving the company to a single massive product department will only create a mediocre product."

What do you like about working at PayPal?

"Innovative, culture open (encourages) to exploring new opportunities in other areas, encourages training/development, allows for leaders to step up and 'own' / drive work."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you work hard and take the initiative to lead, you will advance. But if you climb over people along the way -- it too will be remembered."

What don't you like about working at PayPal?

"We can tend to be schizophrenic - and priorities have changed often. There is a lot of talk of being a 'big start up' but I tend to feel that this is more of a cop-out than a benefit."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"At the time of this review we have a new CEO - so it's unclear how the changes being proposed will pan out, so I reserve my opinion at this time. I'm hopeful."

"The people are intelligent and good to work with but very demanding."

"Immediate manager wants to know everything we are doing at all times and at all hours. We have to update given tasks daily and he gets peeved if we don't update him."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I don't know, the company is so large that it is not possible to effect change on the low levels."

"Outstanding benefits, solid company, good lower management. Lots of variety available."
