"My pet peeve is absenteeism. Being a call center manager, you must have the agents there in order to answer our customers' calls. Also, I did not like having to terminated an agent. I will bend over backwards to salvage an employee who wants to do well. But, I am able to make the tough decisions to let someone go if they will not or cannot perform. My job as a manager as to ensure the company is profitable, efficient, and operates within best practices."
"I love the ability to show associates what I know and make their jobs easier. I dislike the upper management lack of attention to the real problems and the extreme focus on spending hour after hour making a nice spread sheet to show everyone info that they already know instead of hitting the floor and finding out the real problems. You go to any shop and if you truly want to know the issues just ask the associate running the machine, and engage them in the continuous improvement process."
"I love the interaction with every different people on a daily basis, the feeling of accomplishment of doing a good job and helping others succeed. My least favorite part of being an operations manager is the amount of time spent on repetitive training based on an ideal, not training tailored to the individual."
"Love the challenge and feeling of accomplishment at the end of the day. Hate being micromanaged to the point that it takes away from quality time with my associates."
"What I love most about my position is that I get to lead people. To work towards a goal, and then to accomplish that goal, and be recognized by my employees for a job well done, and to see their feeling of accomplishment. The one thing that I heartily disliked (hate is a strong word) was one of the regional managers, and his thoughts on how the branches should be run in different groups. His belief is that the type of business done in Denver where he resides, is going to be the same in California, so I catch a tongue lashing every now and then when things don't go the way he wants them to."
"I like to supervise offers serviced by specialists including purchase and exchange offers, options, warrants, rights offers, odd lot tenders, block trades, and bond conversions.Sometimes when I was conducted training for both new and established registered brokers, financial consultants through various efforts including products and industry regulations meeting, I feel it is necessary but a bit boring."
"Loved some of my co-workers, members and working out on my break. Hated everything else!"
"I was absolutely delighted with my job until the day I found out the Director was keeping three sets of books: 1 set to maximize billables from the client, 1 set to maximize the Director's bonuses, and a final set solely for the purpose of cheating all staff members out of their hard-earned bonuses. When this was brought to the attention of the appropriate people, they immediately attempted to hide all the evidence they could find. It took an SEC investigation to get things addressed properly."
"I enjoy my work as a systems designer. I love to work with new technology and embrace the challenge of finding an ideal solution that meets the project's scope, timeline and budget. Collaboration with architects & designers across all trades is another source of fulfillment in this position. While I enjoy the project estimation and procurement process, invoicing and receivables has become a distraction to my career goals and has taken valuable time away from my projects."
"I love that I get to help people and my company reach their goals. I believe that people want to be led by someone who believes in why they are doing what they are doing. I love helping people and raising the bar for my company."
"I love working with all channels of the business, warehouse, corporate, vendors. I need a change, more in the sales-side of the business."
"The projection, learned a lot of P&L, customer service and supply chain. The responsibility of the all operation, is a good path to be a Plant Manager, General Manager or Director of Operations."
"The ability to interact with all levels of management, from CEO's to the most important part of any company, the employees. Training and developing those individuals that never had the opportunity to show their skills but always wished. That is where I come in on the business aspect."
"The challenge was excellent but the commute was horrible. An hour-and-a-half drive to cover 12 miles one way was too much."
"I love solving problems and technical parts but with this work load is 24 hrs a day. I could expand my career further and have advance my salary. I work hard and always think positive, but the income of $2,500 a month is just not enough to cover my expenses."
