"Performing for a company where employees are hired and terminated based on government funding."

"Better analyze the tools needed to successfully manage our application and data and make decisions with performance over budgetary reasons."

"Be prepared for a combination of technical and behavioral questions however the main emphasis is typically behavioral."

"Like most big companies they stifle innovation and rapid advancement. More value is given to years of service rather than the quality of work being accomplished."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"You need to rethink the way you reward employees and give them advancement opportunities. Yearly raises are a joke and PC scores are almost totally meaningless."

"Relaxed and friendly environment. Good management. Product supports the US Army."

"A basic understanding of the military structure would be helpful."

"Little or no investment in new technology. Very little innovation. No work beyond developing a product that meets the customer's requirements."

"Allow developers to research and develop new technologies that may benefit the customer."

"Other engineers were great. The building and location was excellent."

"Company puts pride in self-starters and self-motivators. Willing to work overtime for extended periods is a plus for them."

What don't you like about working at General Dynamics?

"Unpaid mandatory overtime without even 40 hours of work a week for six months straight and mandatory Saturdays for work that could be done any day. All with no end in sight."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay more attention to the work individuals are responsible for. Take a few classes in Software Estimation."

"The people that I worked at the company were very professional."

"The commute to work had some bad traffic conditions, and relocation for a contract was not practical."

"My manager was very professional, helpful, and focused on being able to deliver the product to the customer."

"Communicate and try to be flexible, make yourself useful right away. Seek out challenges and opportunities because they will not be handed to you."

"I feel like there is very little communications and the culture can be a negative one."

"I would improve the level of communication between divisions and employees."

"The work is fun if you like engineering, but the business surrounding it has made some poor decisions that has forced them to squeeze more out of engineers than they should."

"Find out what the company is really like. They believe all engineers are created equal, which is not true. They will probably pick you up if you are qualified, but really evaluate the fit as somewhere you really want to work instead of just someone that will hire you."

"They commit to too much and squeeze the engineers to make up for it."

"I would put more emphasis on good estimation so that we don't commit to contracts and schedules that are unreasonable."

"I would recommend a new way to rate an employee's performance because everyone does not have the same exposure to others but may be important to their team."

"Administrative or technical arrogance. Leaders insult employees without reason. Short tempered and impatient coworkers."
