What do you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"It was close to home and became close to several of co-workers."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Find out exactly waht happened to the employee that was there ahead of you that you are replacing. Ask for the training schedule and find out exactly when you are accountable for production and what the production history has been for that location."
What don't you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"Goals were based on forcing fee based products down customers' throats. Also, no marketing whatsoever. Seemed like company wanted to be like a big bank but didn't spend the money on resources to do so. Put the burden of corporate marketing onto shoulders of retail employees."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Pick a direction. Be like a small community bank and servcie needs of customers that are not product based or be like a big national bank, spend the money and force customers to take your way or the highway."
"The management here is not very qualified. Does not work with employees and has lack of experience. He thinks he knows it all and will not take the time to learn. I have been with company 15 years and I have never been so disgusted as I am now with this company. Their HR dept is the worst as well. And I have to say, they can't give you the raise you deserve but they sure can find ways to throw money away. (For example: we had HD tv installed throughout building to keep up to date info and within a year they all were taken down. So where did the TV's go) Plus you can see as plain as day if you suck up to management you will become a VP or AVP just so you can get more money. One dept within mine has 10 employees and of them 5 are officers. For 70 employees we have 14 managers. Of those 14, 4 flirt and are unprofessional managers - you see the action right in front of you. This one I love - who just happens to be mine watches the REDS game on the computer and if you have an issue you have to wait until there is a break. He will not say why he is unable to help but if you go to his desk sure enough he is laid back listening away. And the sad part is the VP's office is right next to his and I bet he doesn't even know. My box is packed and that day is coming close and it is a shame that they make me so unhappy that I am just about to walk out."
What do you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"Stability, consistency, structure, incentive, time off."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"They hire who they like, not always based on qualifications but always cover up or have reasons for not hiring the correct candidate so that it seems like they followed protocol. Internal postings are corrupted by management secretly holding individuals back."
What don't you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"Don't stick to policy and bend procedures to suit needs, feels unethical, management is not honest with upper management, no open communication, retaliation, revenge, scare tactics, forced to fib or cover things up, overworked."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Follow policies/procedures, they are there for a reason, no fear of retaliation, there's usually a reason for issues on a team and just listening to one person without doing anything rather than asking more people in confidence."
"Worst job ever. Poor role clarity. Extreme office politics make you not want to do 'the right thing'. Abused by a bully to point I had to report person to HR. Favoritism based on mgmt friendships is sickening (hello boys club!). Unqualified managers who have only been promoted because they have tolerated the abuse for 5+ years. Sneaky and self-serving attitudes abound (survival technique). Little recognition for your efforts. Mgr uninterested in my day-to-day or growth. Place is a grinder. Burnt out."
"Overworked and when you ask for help management adds more work rather than any relief. I was overloaded and made some mistakes after asking for less work for 2 years. I had the largest clients and largest portfolio. Instead of helping me, they let me go. Then come to find out after I was gone they balanced the portfolios which I had been asking them to do all along. The management did not care to let me go during COVID when I had 3 kids at home. I didn't even get a written reprimand or anything just called HR on the phone. When I explained to them the situation they told me I was being let go for HR said it was too late despite management not knowing how a client had literally asked me to handle the portfolio because management never knew what was going on."
"I've been in this biz for a long time. I can safely say this position was the absolute worst with 53. The Regional was the worst manager I have ever had. She is very deceitful and over-promised the position in every possible way. Expect the unexpected. Horrible career, and thankfully I got away as soon as possible."
"I personally did not like the company's ethical views and at times how they would treat their long time customers."
"Not recommended!"
What do you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"The work was interesting and challenging, and I learned some new things as well."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Don't bother - the culture and personalities make it a very difficult place to work at."
What don't you like about working at Fifth Third Bank?
"The people are back-stabbers and dishonest; the worst possible example of corporate politics. Management is also incredibly cheap."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"You have to spend money to make money! And you get what you pay for."
