What do you like about working at Covance?

"Compensation is acceptable but is not spectacular. Some work from home options acceptable, but it depends on your manager (inconsistency within the organization)."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"They love the behavioral questions, but most folks doing the interview lack the skill to do it properly or perhaps the company as a whole isn't good about coordinating the questions so you are not asked the same question by every seperate interviewer."

What don't you like about working at Covance?

"Nepotism is rampant in this company in the Indianapolis Location. For a company of this age, the culture is very immature. Promotions is based on who you know that likes you. Promotions are mosting applied to incoming ElI Lilly workers (thus location known as Lilly West). Raises are a thing of the past. Review happens end of year first of the new year, but applied in July. Bonus are skimpy (but the company is doing well). Managment is very top heavy."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"HR Department needs a lot of work. Recruiters lack followup. Hiring Managers lack ability to hire timely and also lack followup skllls. Company likes to talk about the ficticous 'compelling offer' and 'pillars of service', but in truth it's simply not believable."

"The company was based out of Wisconsin. I was fully responsible for Florida and the company didn't micromanage, they let me get it done."

"I would say check into the capital resources of the company."

"There was a lack of communication at times from the home office."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would say they tended to like meetings just to have meetings. If a meeting is necessary thats fine but if a meeting is not warranted then that cuts into productive time."

"the company is very large and the IT structure was nery broad, Getting things done ojutside of my domain was sometimes very difficult. Trying to find all the right people and getting on their schedule was sometimes a daunting task."

"Consolidate and centralize some of the departments. It seems like there are a lot of people that have a very narrow niche to fulfill."

"Poor management. Lack of communication, if you get an email, reply within hours. Your rewarded with another for a good job with another job, sometime multiple multimillion jobs"

"Selling out for TV, illogical methods of quoting sometimes, just not for me anymore."

"Better Communication between customers and employer contacts, make sure to listen to what the customer wants."

"if you are a contractor make sure you understand whether there will be off-hours support and if you will be paid for it. I was not told my manager didn't want to pay overtime and kept contractors who would work overtime who would not mind not getting paid for it."

"My direct management in ARS IT was horrible. They lied to me and fired me."

"I would put a better focus on the employees and the customers."
